We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to join a Tokyo-based organization. Job responsibilities include planning and managing software localization projects, product feature analysis and product specification creation. Candidates should have a strong track record of organizing and managing projects across multiple teams and multiple geographies, including Japan, US, India and China. Frontline experience with contemporary software industry trends of Software as a Service (SaaS), rapid/agile development processes and basic project management tools is required. Native or near-native fluency in spoken and written English, and at least JLPT Level 2 Japanese language ability required.
Position Overview:
- Project start-up and planning (scheduling and resourcing), and execution to schedule and quality standards
- Communication/Negotiation with project team members across multiple locations and time zones
- Management of outsource resources
- Negotiation with customers
- Specification authoring and review
Requirements:
- BS / CS or equivalent work experience
- Total of 8-10 years experience in Software Development, preferably in a Software Products company. Localization projects experience good to have.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in Program Management
- First-hand knowledge of contemporary software development processes and common project pitfalls
- Outstanding communication and coordination skills both in Japanese and English. Native or near-native fluency in spoken and written English, and at least JLPT Level 2 Japanese language ability required.
- Ability to resolve unpredictable problems in real time
- Experience with standard productivity software (MS Office, etc.)
- Experience with products such as Photoshop, Flash, InDesign, etc. a plus
